The Hungarian cuisine is world-famous and known for its savory herbs and deliciously composed dishes. Fresh fish from the Lake Balaton and poultry from the surrounding farms as well as ingredients and herbs taken directly from the garden will add a unique taste you will savour with every meal.
The Hungarians know very well how to follow trends of the international "nouvelle cuisine"and at the same time how to appreciate their traditional dishes and recipes. Some of those recipes are more than a hundred years old and - treated as little secrets - they are passed down from generation to generation.
Cooking in a kettle over an open fire, a barbecue or dinner on our patio will contribute to the romantic ambience of your stay. For (a rich) breakfast we will serve you home-made jam, honey from the beekeeper, cold cuts, cheese, yoghourts, fresh breads and pastries.
Almonds, apples and peaches from our trees and special local herbs – like basil, thyme and marjoram – from our garden also serve as basics for a lot of our dishes.
The Balaton upland area is the home region of the Hungarian white wine. Therefore you will harldy find a house in the whole area of the Kál basin without a wine cellar. As an old tradition, every stranger whose fate it is to come to this region will be offered a glass of wine.
Enjoy the full and original taste of the wine in the cellar, where the well tempered wine is also taken directly out of the cask with a wine-syphon. The number of wine competitions in this region, as for example in the village of Köveskál, demonstrates how important wine is in the area of the Kál basin.
We strive to offer you new tastes every day. Fresh products from the nearby markets and our own garden guarantee you quality and taste. Our aim is to arouse your tasting senses and to give you an impression what gastronomy can be - if done by people who are gourmets themselves.
In chilly weather we offer our breakfast in the authentic dining room of our main building, in the summer we suggest our patio (covered by vine) or the garden (covered by sunshine). |
